Repair or replace?
If the zipper opens by itself, the slider is broken or the pull tab has come off, a repair is often enough. If the teeth are damaged or the zipper is permanently stuck, replacement is the most durable solution. We always assess the most affordable working option first.

Zipper repair prices
We always check first whether the existing zipper can be saved. Repairing the slider costs 21 €, which is a considerable saving compared with a full replacement. If the zipper has to be replaced, a jacket zipper costs 75 € including the new zipper – trousers, skirts and bags are usually less. You can send us a photo in advance and we will give you an estimate before you come in.
Why repair instead of replace the garment?
Repairing what you already own is the most effective way to cut the environmental impact of clothing. Every repaired garment is one less new item manufactured – and from 31 July 2026 the EU right-to-repair directive will make repair services an even more central part of everyday life in Finland. Ullastiina has repaired clothes in Helsinki since 1997, and our repair services carry the Finnish Key Flag (Avainlippu) mark of domestic work.

How much does a zipper replacement cost?
The price depends on the garment – for example, replacing a down jacket zipper costs 75 € and includes the new zipper. See our price list or send us a photo for an estimate.
How long does it take?
Standard turnaround is about one week. For urgent jobs we offer an express service (+25% surcharge) – often ready the same day.
Do you also fix zippers in bags and tents?
Yes – we replace zippers in bags, backpacks, tents and other equipment as well.
Can the zipper be repaired instead of replaced?
Often yes. Repairing the slider costs 21 € and is the first thing we check, since it saves both time and money compared with a full replacement at 75 €.
Do I need an appointment?
For a straightforward zipper you can simply drop the garment off during opening hours, Monday to Friday 9–17. For larger or more complex work we recommend booking a time so we can assess it with you.

We accept cash and all major credit and debit cards, as well as mobile payments such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.
